The Carnival is main
international event in Brazil. In portuguese is called
"Carnaval". This celebration is one of the best
spectacles in the world and lasts for about 5 days on the run up to
Shrove Tuesday. Carnival season: It happens in the brazilian summer, generally
February, some years in March. Dates change every year. During the
month of February 2010, joy and music fills the air of Rio de Janeiro.
The Carnaval festivities attract thousands of people from all corners
of the world,especially tourist from USA, UK, Germany, Sweden and from
Latin America . Carnaval, is a 4-day
celebration. It starts on Saturday and ends on Fat Tuesday
(Mardi-Gras).
It is celebrated in the whole country, but the main important
brazilian carnivals are in: Rio de Janeiro with the famous
carnival parade in the Sambadrome or Sambodromo, Salvador Bahia with
their famous trios eletricos, Sao Paulo, Recife, Olinda, Porto Seguro,
Fortaleza, Natal and Florianopolis.

The 2013 year the Brazilian Carnival will be held on February 09, 2013 to
February 12, 2013. The Carnival Rio winner´s parade will be on
February 16, 2013. The important nights of Rio Carnival Parade are Sunday and
Monday. In Rio de Janeiro, the famous Sambadrome (Sambadromo)
watching the parading carnival groups with their extravagant costumes
and floats. The various samba schools all compete for a prize and the
honour of being the champion carnival group of the year.
